Providing For Crawdaddy’s Employees Becomes A Community Focus

With Crawdaddy’s indefinitely closed, CityScape Director Holly Freeman said it is now the community’s turn to care for those without a job.

“The cause of concern right now is taking care of the employees and the staff,” Freeman said. “Normally, the holidays are a very busy time for restaurants and wait staff. They expect those tips to make a happy holiday season for them and their families.”

Freeman said several fund raisers and tip jars around downtown have been put in place for the restaurant staff. Between the March tornado and now Wednesday’s fire, Freeman said 2020 has proved that Cookeville cares.

“Something we have seen throughout the entirety of this year, all of 2020, is that this community rally around its own,” Freeman said. “Once again, we are called on to be Cookeville strong and help our neighbors.”

Freeman said Crawdaddy’s was one of the first businesses to contribute to the vibrant downtown.

“It was previously the location of the TPI Cafe back when the railroad came through and the depot was the center of our Westside,” Freeman said. “So, it is a historic building, and we always try to take extra care of those historic buildings.”

Freeman said all information for official donations can be found on the CityScape Facebook page.
