Providence Baptist Church Relocating to Gould Drive

Providence Baptist Church in Cookeville announced it is in the process of relocating to Gould Drive.

Pastor Melissa Roysdon said the church is moving due to the potential sale of the current Putnam County Fairgrounds. Roysdon said their previous location on Rotary Centennial Drive would be a highly desired space for development.

“We wanted to look down the road at what we would need to do when that happens,” Roysdon said. “And how we could allow our landlord to also take advantage of that opening space.”

Roysdon said they were not forced out and the church still has a great relationship with the landlord. The church will now host services in the bottom level of the United Church of Cookeville’s building.

“We had a couple of opportunities to co-worship with another congregation in town,” Roysdon said.  “And they had a space that they were interested in renovating in there downstairs for us to come and use their space.”

Roysdon said the United Church of Cookeville is renovating the space to accommodate their needs so the relocation will open up possibilities for them to become a more giving church.

“Financially it is a great concept,” Roysdon said. “I think it is a great concept for a lot of small churches because we are getting to be ourselves, but we are working in collaboration with other congregations and so the two churches will still be themselves but we can be friends right there in the same building.”

Roysdon said the church will attempt to get the word out through social media to keep people aware of the relocation.

Roysdon said the church is still in the final process of moving and hopes to complete the move by September 23rd. Roysdon said worship services at the new location would begin following the completion of the move.

The church’s address is now 502 Gould Drive Suite B, Cookeville, TN.
