Prisoner Charged With Assault For Biting

A DeKalb County prisoner was charged with assault after allegedly biting a correctional officer.

Sheriff Patrick Ray said the incident took place when the officer entered the holding cell, 19 year old Tavia Gayle Cantrell tried to force her way out and bit the officer’s left arm. She also wrapped herself around the officer’s leg and bit near his knee as he was exiting the cell. The officer called for assistance.

Cantrell faces an additional $4,500 bond and will go to court November 9.
