Dr. Melody Presley has been named the new principal at Cookeville’s Park View Elementary.
Presley has spent the last 13 years as assistant principal at Avery Trace Middle School. She replaces Bobby Winningham who is retiring at the end of the school year.
Presley has served as teacher, coach and administrator at Avery Trace for 18 years.
“Dr. Presley has demonstrated her love for students and passion for public education during her tenure at Avery Trace,” Putnam County Schools Director Corby King said. “Dr. Presley brings tremendous energy and joy in her interactions with students, faculty, staff members, and the families she serves. She maintains high expectations for students, faculty, and staff members. I am excited to support her as she embraces the families and traditions that make PVES a special place.”
Presley said it had long been a dream to be an elementary school principal.
