A portion of Jackson County will be affected by a planned power outage Saturday afternoon.
Upper Cumberland Electric has scheduled the outage as the corporation conducts maintenance between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.
The outage will affect the Gladdice, Wartrace, and Highland Communities.
Jackson County 911 Director Michael Smith said the public should not call 911 to report the outage.
“There is a designated number listed in phone directories to report power outages,” Smith said. “We ask that the public please utilize this number and not tie up an emergency phone line for such an issue.”
He said there should be no reason to report the outage unless power is disrupted for longer than the scheduled portion of time.
The correct number to report an after regular business hours power outage in Jackson County is (931) 268-5866.
