Potential Threat Eliminated At JCHS

Friday, Jackson County Sheriff Marty Hinson announced his office had phone calls regarding threats to Jackson County High School. His written statement said no violence occurred and the school was never locked down.

Monday, Jackson County Director of Schools Joe Barlow said a potential threat caused the sheriff’s appearance, but it’s all been resolved.

“A couple students maybe saw a video or something one child had on their phone and became alarmed about it and of course, you know how those things go,” Barlow said.

He said school protocol was followed and the threat was removed.

Barlow declined to state whether any students will face school discipline or arrest.

“Nevertheless we had a good day Friday, a good safe day for kids, everything’s back at normal,” Barlow said.

The investigation began Thursday night, Barlow said.
