Plateau Tennessee Trails Association Hosting Hike-At-Your-Own-Pace Trails

The Plateau Chapter of the Tennessee Trails Association working to showcase hike-at-your-own-pace trails as part of their activities.

Chapter President Bill Wisniewski said the trails will help people who are not necessarily acclimated to hiking feel less intimidated.

“I felt that maybe we should try something to get people out and showing them different parks and trails,” Wisniewski said. “And letting them know that there are tons of trails in the Cumberland Plateau and even in Cookeville, there are trails over there that you have.”

Wisniewski said they typically are one to two-mile hikes where those less experienced can hike in a group without having to be concerned about being left behind. He said once people are able to get out and learn the trail at a slower pace, he hopes they feel comfortable to continue venturing out and trying other trails.

Wisniewski said there are hikes already planned for the coming future.
