Officials at Edgar Evins State Park continue to make progress on plans to construct a mountain bike trail.
The park has decided to construct a trail that can be used for all skill levels. Park Manager Kenny Gragg said construction likely won’t occur until later this year or early next year.
“As far as cutting trail, I don’t expect that to happen immediately,” Gragg said. “We get into these summer months and it gets pretty hectic around here. The winter months are when we really start taking on these type projects.”
Gragg said a trail administrator from Nashville recently met with Ranger Justin Vaughn to discuss and mesh ideas for the trail.
One section will be an easy trail that extends some two miles out to an overlook and another section will be more difficult for the experienced riders, Gragg said.
“It’s just one more opportunity and another user group that we can attract out here to the park hopefully,” Gragg said.
