The Warren County Utility District edging closer to begin constructing the Piney Pump Station for Spencer’s water system.
Warren County Utility District General Manager Anthony Pelham said the pump station is needed as southern areas along Old Hwy 111 and west along Piney Road has deficient pressure compared to state regulations. Pelham said before taking over the project a local moratorium had been in place to prevent more water taps being added to the system in those areas.
“The completion of this pump station should satisfy any restrictions on that moratorium,” Pelham said. “Now we would be able to lift that restriction and sell taps into the area. I know I’ve had requests for at least two or three taps that we have had to decline just because of the moratorium in commitment to the state of Tennessee.”
Pelham said the project is currently under design with electrical engineers and expects to begin the project sometime in January. Pelham said once the project is started he expects the project to complete before the end of the upcoming spring.
“I would expect the materials acquisition for the pump station stuff to be in the neighborhood of two months,” Pelham said. “Then building all the other related electrical service, piping, and everything else hopefully to happen concurrently with that two-month period and so I would hope the build-out time to be two to three months total and have it operational.”
Pelham said WUCD has taken full control of the project and will continue to provide the city of Spencer with project updates.
