Pickett Seeking Grant For New Business Park

The Pickett County Commission gave the green light last night to apply for an Appalachian Regional Commission Grant.

County Executive Richard Daniel said if awarded, the grant funding would extend water and sewer lines to the new Riverside Business Park.

“This would give us an opportunity to look at some new business and industry that we couldn’t do in the past,” Daniel said. “We also have a large percentage of our workforce that travels out of the county to work in places like Livingston, Cookeville, and Sparta. We also have people driving as far as Nashville to work.”

The Riverside Business Park will be located just East of Byrdstown, right off of Highway 111.

Daniel said it would be the first county owned industrial site in more than 20-years.
