Pickett County students will return to school on August 5th.
Director of Schools Diane Elder said every aspect of the school day will be different, but the school is prepared.
“We want to see all of our students come back in a traditional setting,” Elder said. “We want our parents to understand we have put a lot of heart and soul into this. We are so excited to get to see everyone come back. All of our employees. All of our students.”
Elder said an official plan for returning to schools will be announced on Thursday after meeting with all facility and staff. The board of education and principals of Pickett County all agreed students need to be back in school.
“It may be a tough year for some,” Elder said. “I will not say it will be harder, but it will just be different than years in the past.”
Elder said the school will temperature check and encourage mask wearing for students and faculty who feel a need to.
