After not receiving bids on the first feasibility study, Pickett County Commission decided Tuesday night to rebid a study on upgrades at Dale Hollow Lake.
The project includes work on the area near the Obey River Campgrounds as the site for the Bill Dance Signature Lakes program. County Executive Stephen Bilbrey said since the original bid, they are expecting at least one company to submit for the project.
“Once they get through with all of that, that study will go to the Corps, to the state of Tennessee, to us,” Bilbrey said. “And in that study, it will also tell us what their plan is down at that site, and how much money it will cost to get us to that point.”
Bilbrey said the goal is to have a potential feasibility study plan back to the commission by March. He said the commission could then decide if they wanted to actually move forward with the study itself.
Commissioner Francis Copeland said he was concerned that the site planned for the work was on Army of Corps of Engineers property. He said he found it hard to believe that the Corps would agree to have the state involved with its land.
Chamber of Commerce Director Bill Robbins said the Corps is on board with moving the project forward because it is part of its master plan.
“We’re pretty confident they want to move forward with it,” Robbins said.
