Pickett County Commissioners will vote on bidding out the new jail facility when they meet tonight.
County Executive Richard Daniel said it’s a big step in the process of building the future 54 bed jail facility.
“The jail is specifically designed with some cost saving measures. When we get into the point of operating the jail, hopefully we will have some measures in place to help manage the cost of that,” County Executive Richard Daniel said. “We’ve put a lot of effort into this.”
If approved, Daniel hopes to have the bids back sometime in May.
Commissioners will also be discussing how to fund SRO’s in county schools when they meet at 6:00 tonight.
