Pickett County Commissioners tabled a motion to hire School Resource Officers last night. County Executive Richard Daniel.
“We tabled it in order to work out an agreement between the school system and county government to make sure that we’ve got all our basis covered,” Daniel said. “It’s going to be a process that will take a few months, but we are now on the path of having SROs in our school system.”
Daniel estimated a cost of about $90,000 for three school resource officers.
Pickett County one of two counties across the state that do not have SROs in schools.
