PCSS Busy In Final Nine Weeks Of School Year

Putnam County Schools pushing through state testing preparations over the next two weeks.

Director of Schools Corby King said the nine weeks following spring break are always some of the busiest in the schools.

“The TCAP for grades three through eight, the end-of-course exams for the high school students, ACT testing which took place on the 21st,” King said. “All the graduations, the spring sports.”

King said while students and teachers work hard during this time, they also play hard. He said this time of year sees many classroom parties and field trips following the completion of testing.

King said on the administration side, the days are equally as busy. He said his office is working with the county commission and the school board as the budgeting process begins for the next fiscal year.

“And we’re being at as many of the activities last the schools as we can while were’ doing that,” King said. “And planning for next school year, what staffing needs, what scheduling needs we’re going to have in our schools. Just kind of being ready to close one year out and start the next.”
