Two principal changes coming to the Putnam County School System for next school year.
Prescott South Middle School Principal Trey Upchurch will transition to Student Services Supervisor. Northeast Elementary School Assistant Principal Tera Brooks will take Upchurch’s position as principal.
Jere Whitson Elementary School Principal Thomas Fuhrman will move to Cookeville High School to teach English. The principal position will be filled by Jere Whitson Elementary School Assistant Principal Tina Francis-Hodges.
As a part of the federal funding allocations, a new ESSER Coordinator position will be made. Current District RTI Coordinator Jason Stickler will oversee the role and manage the funds.
Melanie Bussell, current Student Services Supervisor, will be transitioning to RTI Supervisor at the Central Office. Interviews are ongoing for the Upperman Middle School principal position and will be announced soon.
Director of Schools Corby King in a release said these changes are common as the school prepares for the new year. King said federal requirements of the ESSER funding caused the transitions to move sooner than usual.
