PCSO Forming Transition Team For New Jail Annex

Transitioning to the new part of the Putnam County Jail addition is underway.

Sheriff Eddie Farris said they are continuing to work with the contractor and architect as the project progresses. He said things are on schedule and moving along well.

“There are lots of things to do, lots of training on our end, lots of preparation,” Farris said. “We want to make sure the components that are in the contract are getting put into the facility, and that they work, they make sense.”

Farris said they will begin having meetings to prepare for the full transition. He said the transition team will be part of the building project and will eventually be part of the opening and operation of the new jail addition.

Farris said the end date of the contract is May 2024 with the projected completion date of September 2023. He said they expect the project to be totally finished within that time frame.

“It’s an exciting time,” Farris said. “It’s something that we certainly needed for a long time and just glad that the county commission was able to get this approved and get this done for us. We’re all excited and everything seems to be good and on track at this point.”
