PCSO Completes Initial Work On New Training Facility

The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office has completed initial work on its new training facility on South Fork Road just South of Interstate 40.

Sheriff Eddie Farris said he had a goal to construct a training facility when he took office nearly four years ago.

“This is something that we really need. As you know, law enforcement faces many challenges today and we have to have many training scenarios,” Farris said. “The more training there is, the better it is for safety and the liability of the county.”

The training facility currently has a 21 lane outdoor shooting range, but more training areas will be added over the next few years.

The Putnam County Commission allocated the land for the facility in 2015. Farris said the facility was constructed at basically no cost to taxpayers.
