PBS has completed its video vignette on McMinnville for the national Behind The Scenes Series, hosted by Laurence Fishburne.
McMinnville Tourism Development Board Chairman Christy Ross said she has seen the completed work and is proud of the product. Ross said the energy of the city, its outdoor opportunities and location is what resonated with the shows producer.
“The work that the collective had put into making McMinnville progress and move forward, there was a real movement,” Ross said. “We all knew our town was wonderful and we wanted everybody else to know it, and to be able to see it through the eyes of the PBS team.”
Ross said Upper Cumberland residents will appreciate how the city is accurately represented to potentially 60 million households.
“That somehow manages to come across in that video,” Ross said. “That it is a welcoming, wonderful small town with so much to offer and that definitely is conveyed in that video.”
For those across the country who do not know McMinnville, Ross said they will get a glimpse of the trending options the city has. She said being located near the well known parts of Tennessee, along with its natural landscape, could put the city on vacationers radar.
“In these times, people seem to wanting to get outdoors more, than be indoors,” Ross said. “McMinnville definitely fits the mold for people who are wanting to daycation and be outdoors.”
Ross said during her last conversation with a producer, she believes this will start airing nationally in the Spring or Summer of 2021. The special is estimated to be about three to five minutes long, airing nationally for one year.
