Tennessee Tech students looking for work can job hunt at Wednesday’s part-time job fair.
Sixteen companies will be looking for student employees starting at 11 a.m. on Centennial Plaza. Career Development Director Russ Coughenour said the event is meant for new students with gaps in their schedule.
“Hopefully, this event will help make a difference in employing them and helping them to build skill,” Coughenour said. “And, at the same time, helping the employer out. We just look forward to it.”
Coughenour said all tables and tents will be spread out as for as possible outdoors. All companies present will be required to wear masks, and signage will identify the area as a mask appropriate zone.
“We just expect that everybody will abide by that. To be perfectly honest with you, students coming back to Tech already have gotten in the spirit of those guidelines, and we have had very few problems
Coughenour said about 50 percent of the student population hold jobs while enrolled. Eighteen spaces are available for the job fair. Coughenour said the amount of employers is lower then previous years.
“We have got a couple of organizations that are out there for promotion purposes only,” Coughenour said. “We have a good variety of employers, as well. They are mostly, and rightfully so, from the greater Cookeville area.”
In the event of inclement weather, the job fair will be held in the Roaden University Center Multipurpose Room. The fair will last until 1:00 p.m.
Employers Scheduled to Participate include: Academy Distribution Center, First Freedom Bank, The Fit, Cumberland Container, Stonecom Radio, DelMonaco Winery & Vineyards, Taco Bell, Wilson Sporting Goods, Lux Boutiques, Twin Lakes, New Students and Family Programs and Buffalo Wild Wings.
