Parole Hearing Held For DeKalb Woman Charged With Child Neglect

A DeKalb County woman serving an eight year prison sentence for aggravated child neglect had a parole hearing yesterday.

During that hearing a parole officer recommended that Jessica Ashley May be denied parole based on the seriousness of her crime.

Authorities issued charges to May after her fiance, Cody Key, fatally beat her 23-month-old child in 2015. Key received a 45-year sentence to be served at 100-percent.

Authorities said they charged May because she turned a blind eye to a history of abuse towards the child.

A parole board will make a final decision on whether to grant parole within the next two weeks.
