Pacesetters Taking Applications For New Executive Director

Cookeville’s Pacesetters Inc. searching for a new Executive Director.

Beverly Matthews will retire at the end of July after three years in the position. Board President Freddie Nelson said the non-profit has opened for applications.

“We deal with people with physical and mental handicaps, so they need to have some experience in that field, and they also need to have some experience in supervision skills with people that work with Pacesetters,” Nelson said.

Nelson said the organization has received several resumes from candidates interested. Nelson said the Executive Director would oversee operations for six locations.

“We also serve White County, Overton County and Macon County in addition to Putnam County, so it is a pretty big operation,” Nelson said. “We prefer somebody with an EDS or at least a masters degree.”

Nelson said the board wants to have the role filled by the time Matthews leaves. Applications being accepted until July 16th.

“We’re hoping to meet on the 19th or 20th to go through the process of looking at each resume, and then, narrow it down,” Nelson said. “There are five people on the search committee.”

Nelson said if a permanent fit is not found, then an interim director will be appointed.
