Overton Selects New Veterans Services Officer

Overton County has found a new Veterans Resource Officer in Roxanne Sidwell.

Veterans Committee Chair Donna Savage said Sidwell is set to replace Chris Barlow who decided to step away from the job. Savage said Sidwell was selected out of four applicants.

“We want the best for Verton County and she seems the best-qualified applicant for that job,” Savage said. “You want somebody who is able to relate to each and every problem.”

Savage said the process took longer than expected because they had trouble finding the right candidate. She said that was because there was not a lot of interest in the position due to it only being part-time.

Savage said the next steps will be to get the hiring approved by the county commission at its meeting next month. She said after that, Sidwell will go through several training sessions to make sure she is prepared for the job.
