Overton County accepting applications for a part-time Judicial Commissioner.
County Executive Ben Danner said the position writes orders of protection and signs warrants for the sheriff’s department and city police.
“I hate to say, but there’s a lot of domestic abuse in the county and all the counties in the Upper Cumberland,” Danner said. “It’s something that is needed so those people can get order protection if they’re in need and get safety from that person.”
Danner said the county has had as many as four commissioners, but only has one full-time currently. Danner said no applications have yet to be submitted as hiring struggles continue.
“Hiring right now is hard in any profession,” Danner said. “We run it in the newspaper and I don’t think we have had anybody apply yet. We still got some time before the public safety committee interviews people.”
Danner said the part-time position would mainly work on the weekends and needs to live in a 30 minute proximity from Livingston. Danner said resumes are being accepted to the Executive’s Office.
