Some $25,000 worth of technology and furniture coming to the Overton County Public Library thanks to a grant.
Library Director Judith Cutright said five new computers and desks will be installed Thursday.
“These will be replacing some of the old computers,” Cutright said. “Hopefully by then the new monitors will be received as well, so when you come in to use one of our computer systems you will have a brand new system to connect to the internet on.”
Cutright said a new addition for some extra privacy also comes later this spring. Curtight called the phone booth like cubicle a “Zen Booth,” where residents can conduct meetings or telehealth visits behind closed doors.
“You could have confidential phone calls or telecommute with doctors without disturbing other customers or worry about being overheard by customers,” Cutright said.
Cutright said the new computers will replace half of the existing inventory. Cutright said with so much now online, the technology will provide faster service for those without internet at home.
“The library is available for you to come in,” Cutright said. “There is no cost to access the internet here.”
The grant allowing the purchases was awarded last year under the previous library director.
