Overton County Health and Rehab has returned to taking new resident admissions.
Before entering, new residents must pass a COVID test. Public Relations Director Scott Stevens said testing will then continue every 48 hours for 14 days before entering common areas.
“They will be in an isolation area of our facility, so they are not out with everybody else,” Stevens said. “Once they go their 14 days, and there are no symptoms or positive tests, we will move them into one of the other rooms.”
During Friday’s Overton COVID Briefing, Stevens said having no positive COVID tests in the facility for the past 27 days has allowed this. At 30 days, Overton Health and Rehab will be taken off the state’s high community spread category. Employees would only be tested once a week rather than twice a week if this happens.
“As we are getting new residents coming in, we need more staff,” Stevens said. “So, we can not just start bringing people in and not adding to our staff. (…) We have an eight hour CNA class you can do online and can be right on the floor.”
Stevens said no visitations for the facility will continue until the county’s positive rate is below 10 percent. Overton sits at 14 percent.
“Our facility has to go 14 days with no positives, and we are there,” Stevens said. “But the community positivty has to be 10 percent or less. So both of those things have to come into play before we can even consider inside visits.”
