Overton County Fair Board hosting a meeting to get more community members involved with the fair.
Fair Board Member Lacey Pennington said while there are only a limited number of spots to be a member of the fair board, there are ample volunteer opportunities. She said she thinks some people in the public just aren’t aware of all that’s available.
“This will just help open up some doors to everybody to get a little hands-on experience and tog et involved,” Pennington said. “And as involved as you want to be. There’s no real commitment. If you’re free that day just show up and say ‘Hey I’m here to help!'”
Pennington said the duties of a fair volunteer range from doing check-in during event entry day and helping clear out the space after the event. She said anyone can be a volunteer, and there are no age requirements.
Pennington said in addition to talking about the general duties of a volunteer, they want to open conversations about what else the fair can do. She said with a variety of talents across Overton County, they want to utilize the community to continue making the fair even better.
The event will be March 27th at 6 p.m. at the Overton County Fair Board Association Building.
