Overton Commissioners Approved Water-Sewer Easement

Overton County Commissioners approved a water-sewer easement Monday night for a proposed apartment development off Highway 84.

A private developer wants to build 64 apartments behind the Overton County Highway Department. County Executive Ben Danner said the complex could be approved by this summer.

“They’ve applied to the state and if they get approved, this will be a several million dollar investment,” Danner said. “It’ll be like the townhouses at Algood in the curve there right before you get to Algood. It’ll be a really nice set of apartments and it’s something that’s really needed here in the county.”

Danner said the complex might also be served by lines under Highway 42. He said the developer wanted to have both options in play as they move toward approval.

Livingston Mayor Curtis Hayes met with Danner and developers several weeks ago. Danner said the pictures he was shown were promising.

“Really nice,” Danner said. “I mean it would be a real upgrade for a lot of people in the county to be able to get something like this.”

Commissioners also approved the purchase of some $270,000 in textbooks for the Overton County Schools. The budget amendment also included $149,000 in entry upgrades. Commissioners also approved the official county road list for 2021.
