Overton County Commissioner Frank Martin laid to rest Tuesday.
County Executive Ben Danner said Martin served as first district commissioner since 1998 and was a past Livingston mayor.
“It’s going to be hard to replace the knowledge he had,” Danner said. “He was a business man before that, and he really brought a lot of thought to the county commission and a lot of effort. Really tried to help with employee pay and do things for people out in the county.”
Danner said it is a sad day for Overton County as the community celebrates Martin’s life. Martin passed at the age of 87-years-old Thursday.
“I was on the commission with Frank when I first got elected,” Danner said. “He really helped me a lot. Frank is real funny and would cut up and go on about stuff. He told me well you really weren’t a good county commissioner, but you’ve been a really good county executive. He likes to cut up, but he was a really good person.”
Danner said the county commission now has 120 days to appoint someone to the seat. Danner said he expects to bring up the subject for discussion during the September court meeting.
