Overton Commission Hears Pitch For Hiring Retail Consultant

Overton County Commissioners will discuss the possibility of splitting costs with Livingston to hire a retail consultant at the next budget committee meeting.

The budget committee is set to meet on November 18.

Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Shannon Cantrell and Livingston Mayor Curtis Hayes both presented the case for splitting the $30,000 cost during Monday’s Commissioners meeting. They both mentioned benefits to existing and future retailers.

The commission did not take any action on contributing $15,000 towards the consultant. The Livingston Board of Aldermen have already approved paying for half of the cost.

The retail consultant would be on a 12-month, $30,000 contract.
