Overton County is working on final paperwork to close the Carr Creek Bridge project.
Commissioner Darwin Clark said the work is close to completion.
“We’re filling out our closing documents and waiting on the final estimates,” Clark said. “We hope to be closed out by end of January. The bridge is pretty well done.”
Construction on the bridge began in August of last year and faced several delays along the way. Clark said the total cost came out to be $2.3 million with the county only paying $1,500 thanks to grant funding.
“Isn’t that amazing?” Commissioner Donna Savage said. “We only paid $1,500.”
Clark said the bridge took the county five years to complete from when the project was first introduced. The full Commission acknowledged the debt left on the project Monday.
Clark said the $195,000 left will be reimbursed. County Executive Ben Danner said, “Too bad we can’t get more projects like that. I know James (Norrod) did a lot of work doing that. There’s a lot of hoops to jump through when it’s federal, state and local.”
The 220 foot bridge was federally funded through TDOT’s High Priority Bridge Replacement Program. It is located on Rickman Road near Livingston City Lake.
