Overton Celebrates Farm Family Appreciation Day

Tuesday is Overton Farm Family Appreciation Day

4H Agent Alyssa Anderson said the County Extension is pairing up with Southern Agriculture Exchange to host farmers and their families.

“And making sure that they understand that we are there for them, that we appreciate them and kind of address farm stresses and see if we can alleviate those stresses,” Anderson said.

Anderson said the first way to show appreciation is just to get all of the farmers together have a meal.  She said County Extension wants recognize Overton’s farmers.

Anderson said there will also be giveaways including several items that farmers use on a regular basis.

“We plan on giving away some fertilizers, herbicide, a weather station, and a first aid kit,” Anderson said.

Anderson said the giveaways are funded by grants, but the food is sponsored by several organizations including Farm Credit, Farm Bureau of Overton County, Ag One Co-Op of Livingston, and Tennessee Pork Producers.

Overton Farm Family Appreciation Day is Tuesday at the fairgrounds at 6pm.
