One Killed, Six Injured In Monday Evening Crash

A four vehicle crash killed one person and injured six other people in Putnam County Monday.

The accident happened at 5:30 p.m. on Highway 70 near Monterey.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol identified the deceased as 76-year-old Charlotte Long of Crossville.

A crash report said Long was traveling East in a 2017 Jeep Cherokee when she attempted to pass a tractor trailer in a no passing lane.

The report said Long’s vehicle struck the left side of a westbound Chevy Cobalt before crashing head-on into a westbound 2013 Cadillac XTS, driven by 71-year-old Sherry Miller of Crossville.

A helicopter airlifted Miller to Vanderbilt Medical Center for treatment.

The report listed 24-year-old Brooke Otero and a five-month-old child as passengers inside Long’s vehicle. A helicopter airlifted Otero to Erlanger Hospital for treatment, while an ambulance transported the child to Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Their conditions remain unknown.

Two adults and a five-month-old child inside the Chevy Cobalt suffered injuries, but they did not receive medical transport.
