A wrong-way accident early Wednesday morning resulted in one person being taken to Vanderbilt hospital by air.
The THP said a Chevy Equinox entered Highway 111 traveling south in the northbound lanes. That car hit a Buick Le Sabre head on. The driver of the Le Sabre was transported by air to Vanderbilt.
Morning traffic on 111 had to go around the accident on the shoulder. TDOT set up a message board encouraging drivers to get off 111 at the south Cookeville exit and continue through town.
The accident scene was cleared shortly after 8 a.m.
