OCSD Still Taking Pre-Registration For Incoming Kindergarteners

Overton County School District saw success with its official Kindergarten Pre-Registration Day Monday.

The day helped parents with children entering kindergarten pre-register, finish online registration when log-in information is received, and complete screening activities. Kindergarten through 6th Grade Supervisor Melissa Savage said if you missed the event, there are other ways to register.

“Contact the school that the child will be attending and go ahead and make an appointment to get the registration forms turned in that are required,” Savage said. “Those are the birth certificate, the social security card copy, proof of Overton County residency, and a physical.”

Savage said another requirement is that the child must be five years old by August 15th, 2023. Savage said once the appointment is set, the school will let parents know if there is any additional information needed.

Savage said there is no deadline for pre-registration. She said she recommends before May 1st, which is when registration opens.

“The sooner the better,” Savage said. “So when the registration process opens up in Skyward, which is our attendance program that we use, they can go in and register. And that gives us a better understanding of how many students to expect at each school.”
