Oak Tree Towers Waiting On Elevator Issues For Full Occupancy

Oak Tree Towers has its first tenants occupying the first floor, but elevator issues are preventing move-ins for the rest of the units.

Highlands Residential Executive Director Dow Harris said that the last unit of the ten would move in Friday.

“So the first floor, we’ve been given some temporary occupancy permits for the first floor,” Harris said. “The second and third floor which is 40 more units is still contingent and waiting on the sump pump to be corrected in the elevator.”

Harris said that right now they’ve been told that they have about another week until the part arrives. He said that if the pump comes in on time, they would be on schedule to have permits for the full occupancy of the building in the next 30 days.

Harris said that it is still a waiting game for the system to be corrected. He said it was a disappointment to run into that issue.

“It had a chain effect throughout the whole process,” Harris said. “But other than that, we have accepted the building conditioned up on some corrections the contractor has to make, some punch list items, and of course the big issue is getting that elevator system approved by the state and then we’ll be off and running. But the building is open, the first floor is open. We’re continuing to take applications. We’re averaging about two applications a day with interest in Oak Tree Towers.”

Harris said that the other 40 units are currently assigned. He said that there are 11 people on the waiting list and 10 applications pending.
