A four-vehicle workzone accident Monday morning on Interstate 40 resulted in no injuries.
The accident occurred near the 287 mile marker as crews had rolling road blocks in effect, making pothole repairs. Three vehicles were stopped in the left lane. The fourth vehicle, driven by 19-year-old Timothy Coffee of Cookeville merged from the closed right lane into the left lane. He struck the stopped vehicle causing a chain-reaction accident.
None of the drivers but Coffee’s vehicle and the one he struck had to be towed because of damage. No charges were filed, according to a Tennessee Highway Patrol report.
The incident happened just after 9:30am on the Putnam County stretch of Interstate 40.
