A grant to start a welding program at Clay County High School has forced the building of a new weight room.
Athletic Director Rob Edwards said the welding equipment will be located in the agriculture building in what was once the weight room. The new weight room will have state of the art equipment
Edwards said the project is overdue and that a new weight room will not be for athletic use only.
“We are trying to create an atmosphere where all our kids, not just our athletes, but our other students, our PE classes, can get in to an appropriately equipped weight room,” Edwards said.
The school purchased the new equipment from Legends Fitness. Edwards said the weight room project will centralize the equipment.
The project will be completed by the first of August.
