New Transportation Service Starts In Cumberland County

Cumberland County now has a deviated fixed bus route system.

Allen Foster is the Cumberland County Mayor. He said the routes will go from the Health Department up to Walmart and deviate up to .75 miles.

“We’re excited to have a deviated fixed route bus system here in Cumberland County,” Foster said. “The big thing is that people living in the greater Crossville area will have service for six days a week now to drop them off anywhere along that route.”

Allen said the new system provides better service compared to the county’s two other transportation options.

“Previously, all we’ve had are UCARTS that are out in the county one day a week,” Foster said. “The other service is the MyRide Program. It’s a destination type of service, sort of like Uber, but I believe you’ve got to have 48-hours notice and it’s a two hour ride limit.”

The new Go Upper transportation service costs $1 or $0.50 for seniors and veterans. For more information call 1-833-UCTRIPS or visit http://ucpublictransit.com.
