New Store Will Take You Back To Being Kid

A new vintage toy store has brought a wave of nostalgia to Livingston, opening its doors to collectors and enthusiasts alike.

Owner Casey Garrett said the store features toys from the eighties and the nineties. Garrett said the toys range from Hot Wheels to the Millennium Falcon display to thousand-dollar action figures. Garrett said the variety of toys is due to the variety of childhoods.

“Our favorite thing is when customers walk up and they see a toy from their childhood, just the excitement and happiness that comes across their face,” Garrett said. “There’s not a lot of things in this world today where you can find that. That’s why we love it.”

Garrett said she and her husband have attended more than fifteen toy shows over the past five years. Garrett said trading at these shows is how they first started their journey. Garrett said she encourages people to visit, even if they don’t plan to buy anything, as toys often bring back cherished memories.

“Typically in your childhood, no matter what else is going on, a toy is something you can go to, to find comfort and happiness,” Garrett said. “And you can still find that once you see that toy twenty, thirty years later.”

Garrett said the funding for their shop came from their own pockets, thanks to years of careful saving. She said the profits from toy trading were a significant factor in making their dream a reality. Garrett also said the shop is housed in a vintage building constructed in 1930, adding a nostalgic charm that perfectly complements their collection.

“Anytime that we made money with the toys, we decided we wanted to put it back into the toys,” Garrett said. “Over time that accumulated so we decided it was time for everyone to see the toys.”

C&M Vintage Toys opens this weekend, at 303 S. Church Street in Livingston.
