New Sparta Hemp Store Expanding to Crossville

A Sparta hemp store is already expanding as prepares to open a second Crossville location within the coming weeks.

GreenWerks Co-Founder Dillion Simmons said expanding made sense as many of their customers were traveling from the Crossville area.

“We found a real good location up there. It’s a good community with a lot of good people in it,” Simmons said. “We thought that would be a real good place to open up another business as we move forward in growing our business.”

Simmons, along with business partners Adam Frazier and Jeffery Ferguson, opened GreenWerks in Sparta on Aug. 10. He said the three of them wanted to start a business that would help people in the area.

“By coming in and letting the people use our products, and they’ve come back and they’ve told us the stories and how much it has helped them,” Simmons said, “that really just made us want to go and open another store. It’s just about helping people get over the pain and get away from the pharmaceutical companies and the prescription drugs that are really hurting people more than they’re really helping.”

Unlike tetrahydrocannabinol (THC oil), which contains the psychedelic aspect of marijuana, GreenWerks sells cannabidiol (CBD oil). Although some products may contain trace amounts of THC, Simmons said it’s still below the legal limit.

“We try to offer everything you need to use our products and consume our products safely without having to go anywhere else and get that negative stereotype of the product,” Simmons said.

Simmons said he and his partners are not in the business to change people’s minds on marijuana or CBD products.

“We just try to inform people and give them the information they need to make a decision on their own,” Simmons said. “We aren’t trying to change anybody’s mind. We’re just offering something that works. And when word gets out of how good it works, people’s minds will change. It really is just a bad [stigma] on the product.”

Simmons said he hopes the second GreenWerks location in Crossville is expected to open within the next two weeks. Customers who visit GreenWerks must be 18 years or older to enter or purchase anything from the store.
