The new Putnam County soccer fields near Cookeville High School on track to be completed and open by next summer.
Parks and Recreation Director John Ross Albertson said the project began when the sports complex ran out of room. He said the estimated $667,000 project was aided through grant funding.
“Of course, it’s a great thing to be able to add two additional fields,” Albertson said. “We even have in the plans to hopefully look at more additional space that we can utilize for practices and additional things of that nature.”
Albertson said the work on the county’s side has been completed. He said they are currently waiting for the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation inspection.
Albertson said the group will come and inspect the facility, making sure everything was done according to the specs, the contract, and everything the engineer had put into the plans.
