Baxter will soon have a new pharmacy opening in town.
Baxter Pharmacy is expected to open in late July. Owner Lana Jared said opening the business offered her the chance to make a difference.
“I always knew I wanted to open my own pharmacy and give back to my community,” Jared said. “God birthed this idea into me in January of 2018. We started getting to work on things. We are just excited on how He is going to use us in this community and how to give back to people.”
Jared is a 2000 graduate of Upperman High School. She earned her Doctor of Pharmacy Degree from the Tennessee College of Pharmacy in 2010.
Jared said the pharmacy will offer many services beyond filling prescriptions.
“We are offering compounding,” Jared said. “We’re going to compound different medicines or different formulations for people who can’t take things by pill or liquid and they need it in another format. Compounding is really huge in pharmacy right now.”
Having a hometown feel is something Jared said was important. She said the shop’s front end will offer customers a wide range of items.
“It’s not a typical pharmacy front end,” Jared said. “We’re going to have a lot of different companies like Wood Wick Candles, doTerra essential oils, Beanie Babies, and all sorts of different county t-shirts that have that hometown feeling.”
Baxter Pharmacy will offer different packaging options. Jared said the business will be able to package medicines taken together into a tear-off packaging so you can grab your medicine and go. Jared said she wants Baxter Pharmacy to be more than just a place people can get their medicine. Instead she wants to be able to help people with their overall health.
“If they come to our pharmacy, we want them to know that this is more than medicine,” Jared said. “That’s kind of our mission statement. We want to help your health and we want you to have the best health possible.”
