Construction on the new Park View School stands 93 percent complete with outdoor grading and paving the only remaining concerns.
Upland Design Group Consultant Kim Chamberlin said he walked the classroom wing with a punch list and determined it to be in good shape. He said he plans to do the same for the rest of the building in two weeks as work finishes up.
“Probably the biggest concern is looking at the exterior,” Chamberlin said. “As you know, weather hasn’t been very cooperative. We’ve had more rain than we need to have. So, pray for some dry weather and we’ll be able to get the paving work and the rest of the things worked outside.”
Chamberlin said contractors have assured him that the building is ready to receive furniture, so he expects it to arrive as scheduled in late June. He said contractors are knocking out some additional waxing and touch-ups to the interior, but the inside is nearly finished.
“There may be some spaces where we can’t quite put it in that space yet,” Chamberlin said. “But we’ll have room in the building to keep it in and move it in as we need to. But the classroom wing, as you can imagine, which is most of the furniture, should be in good shape, ready to go into the spaces when it arrives.”
Rain and material delays earlier this year knocked the project more than a month off schedule, but Chamberlin said everything is moving along smoothly.
