New Finance Officer In Training For Livingston

Livingston has recruited Jane Ann Officer to train to become the city’s next Certified Municipal Finance Officer.

Mayor Lori Elder Burnett said the city’s current finance officer, Joel Parks, has expressed the desire to step down at the end of 2025. Burnett said it will take about a year for Officer to get certified for the position.

“Some of it will just be, you know, off-site training,” Burnett said. “But also our current CMFO will be working alongside her to do the training to get her used to the system that we have here as well.”

Burnett said the city is paying for Officer’s training which she will be working full-time to complete. Burnett said Officer is a Livingston native who will fit in well with the rest of the city’s employees.

“She has finance background, she has been an auditor, and I feel like she will be a great person to fill this spot for the city of Livingston,” Burnett said. “And I feel like it’ll be business as usual.”

Burnett said Officer will start working with the city later in September.

“Obviously we are going to be adding an employee,” Burnett said. “But we have to prepare for the future.”

Burnett said Parks is looking to leave the position due to other work opportunities that he wishes to pursue.

“Whenever Joel (Parks) phases out at the end of 2025 we want her to be ready and on board to be able to do that job,” Burnett said.
