New Dollar General Set To Come To White Co. Off Hwy 111

A new Dollar General set to break ground in White County in the next 60 days.

Codes Director Brett Nash said contractors had reached out to him about the prospects a few weeks ago. He said the location is set for off Highway 111 just outside Sparta city limits on the northbound lane.

“I talked to a developer probably last year or six months ago sometime, and their goal is to get a Dollar General, especially in rural communities like ourselves, their goal is to get Dollar Generals within five miles of each other,” Nash said. “So I’m sure this will not be the last one we see in the county.”

Nash said that the new Dollar General will benefit the community greatly in terms of convenience. He said it would be the perfect stop for anyone going to Spencer Highway or if they want to go to McMinnville.

Nash said the architect on the job has touched also base to discuss the restrictions on the design and what requirements need to be met. Nash said there currently are no restrictions, but the department is working to get official commercial codes requirements approved by the county commission.

“I have people all the time wanting to talk about permits for cellphone towers, storage buildings, commercial buildings such as that,” Nash said. “And we just don’t have any permitting process like that currently.”
