Putnam County reached its highest COVID numbers of the pandemic this weekend with 755 active cases.
The State Department of Health reported 116 new cases Saturday, 109 Sunday. The county has reported more than 100 new cases in four of the last seven days.
Putnam County’s previous high came August 30 with 649 active cases.
Cumberland County also reached a new high Sunday with 451 cases, an increase of 77 active cases from Saturday. Warren County topped 600 active COVID cases Sunday for the first time while Dekalb County reached 300 active cases.
White County reached a new high Sunday with 298 cases.
According to state data, 502 new COVID cases were reported across the Upper Cumberland Sunday. That brings the three-day total to 1400. A total of 3,166 cases are currently active in the region.
Multiple school systems will spend this final week before the Christmas holiday learning virtually because of rising COVID numbers.
