New Business Thread And Bristle Boutique Brings Home And Clothing Items To Baxter

Baxter celebrated the opening of its newest business at a ribbon-cutting Thursday afternoon.

The Thread and Bristle Boutique Co-Owner Jason Jenkins said that he wants the store to be a place for the people of Baxter to find good quality items that you can’t find anywhere else.

“I think this gives a place that you don’t have to go all the way into Cookeville to go somewhere,” Jenkins said. “This also gives a place for people to shop for something that’s unique, something that not everyone else has. If you go to a big box store you find that they have a lot of the same thing. We have a very limited supply of each size.”

Jenkins said the store will feature clothing, purses and accessories, as well as a mixture of new and antique furniture. He said he wants their store to be accessible to as many people as possible, having sizes ranging from children to 3X.

Mayor of Baxter John Martin said that Baxter is seeing plenty of new businesses open up in town, and he’s happy the town now has this one.

A year in the making, Jenkins said he and his co-owner Chloe Lee are excited to finally open their doors. With the idea from Lee, and with Jenkins’ previous experience owning a boutique, the store has an added edge to bring to Baxter.

“I go out and handpick antique furniture, I fix it up and I paint it and I do resale,” Jenkins said. “We try to mix the old antique things with the newer items. We try to have things that are unique from other stores. We don’t want to sell the same thing that someone else. It’s just a combination. It’s kind of like walking into your dream closet.”
