Van Buren County’s new Administrative Building is nearing completion.
County Mayor Greg Wilson said he hopes to begin moving in local government offices by March 12th.
Wilson said the new 50,000 square foot building will house administrative offices, the jail, and justice center.
“It’s going to be beneficial in several different ways,” Wilson said. “We have now put all of those different offices into one building, which lowers the cost. The jail is also 60 years old and was originally built to hold 13 people. We are running out of room there.”
The county’s old administrative building was destroyed by a fire in 2015.
Wilson said the March 12th move in day will be contingent on what the fire marshal says on Friday.
