Northern areas of the Upper Cumberland saw training rain and thunder Saturday night as storms trained out of Kentucky.
By 3:40am Sunday morning, one National Weather Service observer reported 2.77 inches of rain in Celina. A flash flood warning was issued as the storms began to unwind over Clay, Pickett and Fentress Counties Sunday morning.
In Jackson County, EMS reported a few trees down along route 262.
An unsettled weather pattern will take shape over the Upper Cumberland this week with several waves of showers and thunderstorms. The northeast region that saw the training of showers and thunderstorms over the same area could see more of the same Sunday. The Upper Cumberland is also under a slight risk of severe storms Sunday.
Several inches of rain are possible this week leading into the busy Fourth of July weekend.
